Usually I enjoy to read and post in the Trek literature Forum at trekbbs.com but sometimes I'm tempted to throw my monitor out of the window.I started a thread with a proposal to publish the S.C.E. serie more Dead-Tree-Format friendly without hurting the eBooks. But only one Three Word comment (I like it) was directed at the idea itself, the rest was an eBook vs. Paper book "discussion". One user even suggested eBook weren't real books :(. I knew in advance that there was a chance that something like that (eBook vs. paper) occurs sooner or later in the thread, but i hadn't anticipated that there wouldn't be a real discussion about the initial topic at all.

EDIT TO ADD (22.DEC) : Thankfully Christopher (L. Bennett) has brought the thread back on topic for now. I just hope the thread either slowly fades away or stays on topic, without returning to the eBook vs. paper war.

Hey, it's not your fault. Some people just feel the need to jerk their knees. *sigh*

Yeah, I have accepted by now that I can't control what becomes of my threads, but that doesn't make it less annoying. One thing I would have done differently in hindsight : I would have posted it on a smaller board, like booktrek.tk .

Yeah. It's not your fault at all. The people that hate e-books only need a tiny amount of prompting to vent that hatred, unfortunately.

Personally, I find whinging about sitting in front of a computer to read a book to be silly, but I sit in front of a computer for 12-14 hours a day anyway thanks to working in an office 9 hours a day and spending from 3-5 hours a day writing.

My favorite is that they sit in front of a computer to read these threads, and then bitch about sitting in front of the computer and reading.

I must admit I'm one of this guys, too. But for me it is a problem, because I like to read the books in big chunks, heck, sometimes I read books in one sitting. And while I have no problem reading paper books for hours without looking up, I get headache when I read without break on a screen for more than one hour or so. When I read online threads I can make breaks after individual comments.
